| | In 1999, "Lolita Fashion" started in Japan as French maid meets Alice in Wonderland type of look, with a short, puffy black dress with white apron. Since then, Lolita fashion has seperated into five main looks of the fashion. -Classic Lolita which is bassicly dressing up to look like a Victorian baby doll. Very cutsey. The girls(mainly teens) who dress up like this wear Mary Janes or other chunky, doll'ish looking shoes, bloomers underneath pretty short, puffy Victorian looking skirts. For the shirt, most Lolita's wear a light corset, or a lacey or floral shirt. Clothes have many ruffles and lace. For makeup, naturel is in, with lip gloss and light blush. Hair is usually braided or worn up in a Victorian head dress. For jewerly, they mostly wear lace. Nothing more. They usually carry fancy little purses with anime or manga charecters on them, or they carry a pretty little suit case. The may carry a parasole.
Gothic Lolita (EGL)- (Otherwise known as Elegant Gothic Lolita.) The Gothic Lolita's usually wear the above clothes, only not so cutsey, but still Baby doll looking. The are usually into black lace and corsets. Heavy, dark makeup.
Neo-Gothic Lolita- They are usually into metal, chains, spikes, ripped clothes, dark, heavy makeup. More American Goth.
Neo-Classic Lolita- Very mutch like Classic Lolita only not so cutsey.
Gothic Aristrocat (EGA)- Othewise known as Eleangt Gothic Aristrocat. The Gothic Aristrocat is bassicly the male version of Gothic Lolita. They wear mostly Victorian male looking clothes with a gothic, Japanese twist.
Dire En Grey & Malice Mizer are males that dress up like EGL.
